The current recession has not put a stop to this event years ago. President of the NCF Ken Knight is optimistic that Crop Over is a success again this year. Although the Crop Over Festival has not really started the opening gala of participation in various events has been marked the day high.
cavalcades in particular have seen a huge increase in attendance, it was obvious, the Cavalcade has most recently held in Waterford to see the 8000-9000 people at this event. Mr. Knight also said that increasing the participation of foreign festivals is high. We should expect an increase in the number of visitors from Canada because of the low cost airline tickets from Toronto.
There were non-availability of flights from the United States, but even that does not lead to a shift in the numbers. This only shows that the tickets are for sale, indeed. The future interest in our region is increasing, especially as to explore our neighbors in St. Lucia and Trinidad, to get all the funds available to the climax of the festival .. Point noted, however, Mr. Knight, that the lack of adequate airlift to bring to our neighbors is an important concern of the travel agencies.
