Costume Distribution has begun in some bands and will be continuing through next Friday 12 February 2010. In most cases uncollected costumes will forfeit deposit and be sold on Saturday 13 February 2010. The majority of bands seem to be also requiring a copy of a valid ID if you are purchasing or collecting a costume from/for a masquerader that is not present. Carnival in Bahia, a state in Northeastern Brazil differs substantially from Carnival in Rio de Janeiro (see article) . To start with the music styles are not the same for the two carnivals. Bacchanal Carnival season in Jamaica officially begins on February 5, 2010 with the opening of Bacchanal’s Mas Camp Village on Oxford Road in Kingston. The theme for carnival 2010 is “Bacchanal Treasures”. Each and every Friday night until March 26, the Mas Camp will be the place to be for great vibes and good fun. What is also great news is that ticket prices will be the same as last year, allowing the bacchanal faithful to fete at an affordable price. With only THREE months left until Carnival, there has been some speculation about Machel taking time off, a Carnival Center to be built, promoters not being able to throw parties, bands not selling as fast as they thought etc. WHATS REALLY GOING ON???? So the result is we still dont have a stage, is Machel going to release any music for next year?, where are we going to party now? and will the price of costumes decrease because they are not selling as fast as they should? What are your thought?...

Masqueraders Crossing A stage After TRIBE's 2010 Band Launch some were left disappointed, others excited. I for one felt as though this was one TRIBE's inferior presentations and they could've done much better. Maybe it was the change of the band's theme that set the costumes off. The Presentation originally named "The Silk Road" was deemed too close to "The Spice Route" as a result the name was changed to "The Secrets of Silk". Of all the themes for Trinidad Carnival that reflect the culture, Culinary is by far the most global. New Yorkers recently got a taste of Spice Carnival at the Antilia Event in October. For 2009, Spice Carnival will bring an array of costumes that reflect Trinidad and Tobago's diverse appetite for culture, flavor and substance. Not to say that any particular mas band is better than the other. The judges will decide that next year.
