2010 is upon us, and Tribe Carnival aims to deliver. Sold out sections, in the first weekend, back orders, trades, all the madness that is included with playing mas with Tribes. Well, here is what all the fuss was about. When we first saw their line up for Trinidad Carnival 2010, the response was Fire Over Chiney Kitchen full stop, and not in the bad way. For 2009, Spice Carnival will bring an array of costumes that reflect Trinidad and Tobago's diverse appetite for culture, flavor and substance. Not to say that any particular mas band is better than the other. The judges will decide that next year. I know you spent all your money and energy in Miami but time is speeding a way and Trini carnival is just around the corner so take your vitamins because from here on out we on the move. On October 30, 2008 at the Prince George Ballroom, Antilia brought Trinidad Carnival 2009 to us for a much cheaper fee (one hundred dollars) than the thousands most spend to play mas and fete in Trinidad. Parents you don't need to worry any more! There has been a long tradition of mas camps catering to the carnival needs of adults from all over for New York City’s Labor Day parade. Often when you attend the various band launches you get a taste of the “slackness” that is going to take place “down di road”. Although this wild behavior of drinking and gyrating provides a guaranteed evening of pure fun, it is certainly not ideal for children of young ages. There is one mas camp that is set out to change that, and establish an environment that is enjoyable enough for adults yet appropriate for the children. Funtastic II which was est...
