Sesame Flyers International, Inc. has been a staple entity within the Brooklyn community for over 35 years. Providing various services to the community throughout the year it is no wonder that when carnival time rolls around their band launch is the most anticipated event. This year’s band launch took place on June 28th where they introduced “Caribbean Heritage”. This year’s theme reflects all aspects of Caribbean culture ranging from its African roots to its island life. Sesame Flyers utilizes the talents of lead costume designers from Trinidad & Tobago such as Big Mike and Friends of Legacy, and Rosalind Gabriel designing for the children section....

Mas at Sesame began at the interception of the organization with the children and adults both being involved in the production and participation. Since no one in the organization was really versed in the actual mas making, we decided to do something simple with printed Tee Shirts and sailor caps with Silhouettes Steel Orchestra supplying the beautiful music and we looked fantastic. Although the production was a big hit with our members and supporters, the adults lost interest in playing mas the following year.
