Confirmed by the organisers
J’ouvert (from the French Creole for “daybreak”) is the messy, joyful street party that opens Carnival Monday. Visit Trinidad describes participants covered in paint, mud and powder as a symbolic release before pretty mas.
Most visitors join a paid J’ouvert band for a safer group, drinks and a set route. Meeting times and kit details are announced by the bands closer to the date.
After sunrise, many people wash off, rest, then collect or change into Monday wear for the afternoon parade.
Still to be announced
- 2027 J’ouvert package prices and meeting points will be announced by the bands.
